What is a Peaceful Dinner Table (and why does it matter?)
Today I’m going to show you the first step to overcoming picky eating and all kind of other dinner-table disturbers. It's time to create a Peaceful Dinner Table.
After years of research and study, plus counselling families of all shapes and sizes--and being a mom myself--I have discovered that the very first step to improving the state of the dinner table is to choose and implement Table Rules.
With your family, you’ll choose at least three of these and agree to abide by them at the dinner table (adults too!):
- No screens at the table.
- Don’t yuck someone’s yum.
- Say thank you to the cook.
- You don’t have to eat but you do have to sit.
- Everyone shares a rose and a thorn.
- Your own rule you know you need to enact and enforce.
Voila! you’ve started to create a dinner table that’s not a place of resentment and manipulation. It’s a place of peace...and eventually of joy. Couples and solo diners, there are special rules for you in the attachment!
